CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - Coastal Carolina University’s new PGA Golf Management Program Academic Learning Lab is now open.

The university held a groundbreaking ceremony for the lab on Monday at its General James Hackler Golf Course.

The $10.8 million, 16,000-square-foot facility, will replace the course’s clubhouse that was built in 1969.

It’ll serve as a teaching and working lab with classrooms and hands-on spaces serving the golf course functions, according to a news release.

CCU officials said the university is home to one of only 16 Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Golf Management programs accredited by the PGA of America.

The building consists of four main program components with central lobbies on both levels.

The first floor will include the pro shop and a restaurant and kitchen. The second floor will include classrooms, swinging and putting labs, and offices.
