Socastee High alum Hunter Renfrow released by Raiders: ‘5 years went by quick’

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A former star at Clemson who started his football career in the Grand Strand has been released from his NFL team.
The Las Vegas Raiders released wide receiver Hunter Renfrow on Wednesday, making him a free agent, according to the team.
Renfrow spent five years with the sliver and black after being drafted by the team in 2019.
His best season came in 2021, when he made 103 catches, earning him a Pro Bowl selection and the second-most receptions in a season by any Raiders receiver.
“His career totals include 73 games played with 23 starts, totaling 269 receptions for 2,884 yards and 17 touchdowns,” the Raiders stated in a news release.
Renfrow took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to thank the fans.
“Raider Nation, thank you for welcoming me and my family in the last 5 years,” Renfrow said. “From Oakland to Vegas, it felt like home. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my teammates and coaches inspiring me every single day. 5 years went by quick…… ‘Once a Raider Always a Raider’”
Before making it to the NFL, Renfrow played and went to Socastee High School.
He then made a name for himself at Clemson and was a part of two national championship-winning teams.
