HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Horry County Coroner’s Office released the name of the man killed earlier this month in a Loris area shooting.

Officers were called just before 1:10 p.m. on Jan. 16 to Cheryl Road and learned two shooting victims had already been taken to the hospital.

Mic’kell Grissett, 19, of Loris, died after being taken to the hospital, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

“He was like, very goofy, lovable, respectable and there wasn’t nothing that he wouldn’t do for you,” said Mic’kell’s mother, Fulecia Daniels Grissett.

“To know him is to love him, he was great,” said Julisa Daniels, Mic’kell’s aunt.

Horry County police have arrested 19-year-old Tre’Shawn Davis in connection to Grissett’s death.

Davis is charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to Davis’ arrest warrants, he used a handgun to shoot Grissett and the other victim who suffered “great bodily harm.”

While Grissett’s family said the situation was unfortunate, they also say they don’t have animosity towards anyone.

“We don’t have no kind of animosity about what happened, and we want to tell the family that God is in us, and we don’t hate y’all, we love y’all,” said Michael Grissett, Mic’kell’s father.

And, they said God, and their big, tight-knit family would get them through this.

“We’re a big family of God, and so we’re just going to take this one day at a time, and we’re just going to let God do the rest,” said Fulecia Daniels Grissett.

The evidence that led to Davis’ arrest came in the form of witness statements, forensic evidence and video footage, the arrest documents state.

Davis was arrested on Jan. 18. He is held without bond in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
