Police make arrest in Dillon shooting

DILLON, S.C. (WMBF) – Dillon police arrested a man accused of shooting another person.

Officers took Vernie Blount into custody on Monday afternoon at a home on East Dargan Street.

He is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Police said he shot a person on Friday along North 9th Avenue.

The victim was flown to a nearby hospital and is being treated.

WMBF News has requested the police report and arrest warrants in order to learn more about the shooting and what may have led up to it.
