12 arrested in Myrtle Beach, Horry County police operation

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Over 10 people found themselves in custody last week as a result of a police operation in Horry County.

The Horry County Police Department and Myrtle Beach Police Department announced 12 arrests Monday which “yielded the recovery of several thousand dollars in stolen merchandise.” Two fugitives, including one from Texas, were among those arrested.

Authorities said the following people were arrested as a result of the operation:

  • Gregory Ray, 33, of Greensboro, N.C. -- Unlawful Games & Betting, Swindling, and Operating without a Business License.
  • Jeremy Graves, 37, of Thomasville, N.C. -- Unlawful Games & Betting, Swindling, Operating without a Business License, Resist Arrest by Giving False Name, Giving False Information to Law Enforcement, and MDP, Narcotic Drugs in Sch. I(B) & (C), LSD, and Sched. II (Cocaine) - 1st off.
  • Tirck Friday, 26, of Greensboro, N.C. -- Unlawful Games & Betting, Sale or Delivery of Pistol and Possession by Certain Person Unlawful, Swindling, and Operating without a Business License.
  • Marcus Melton, 26, of High Point, N.C. -- Gambling, Swindling, and Operating without a Business License.
  • Rueben Turner, 45, of Myrtle Beach -- Trespassing.
  • Shannon Garlock, 35, of Myrtle Beach -- Shoplifting $2,000 or less.
  • Jimmie Ates, 52, of Myrtle Beach -- Fugitive from Texas.
  • Carrie Elliott, 50, of Myrtle Beach -- Shoplifting $2,000 or less.
  • Shardae Davis, 35, of Sumter, S.C. -- Shoplifting/Enhancement $2,000 or less.
  • Anfernee Bradley, 27, of Sumter, S.C. -- Driving Under Suspension - 2nd Offense.
  • Allesha Robert, 26, of Myrtle Beach -- Shoplifting $2,000 or less, Possession of Cocaine - 2nd Offense, and MDP, Narcotic Drugs in Sch. I(B) & (C),LSD, and Sched. II (Cocaine) - 2nd or SUB
  • Michael Uher, 43, of Myrtle Beach -- Shoplifting $2,000 or less.

“Public safety is a shared responsibility and in Horry County we certainly work together to make a difference,” MBPD Chief Amy Prock said in a statement. “This operation is another example of the dedication of our law enforcement professionals and business community in fighting crime in our area. We will hold those accountable for their actions.”

“The law enforcement community in Horry County collaborates closely on a daily basis to keep our residents and visitors safe,” said HCPD Chief Joseph Hill. “One recent joint operation led to 12 arrests. Perhaps more importantly, the operation demonstrated the power of teamwork to get to the root of a problem. We want criminals to know we won’t rest until they face justice for their actions.”
