Georgetown County School District to include public input in Superintendent hunt
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Georgetown County School District will now be allowing their community to help pick their next superintendent.
They announced Wednesday that its board of trustees retained the South Carolina School Boards Association to help in the search for the next head of the district.
In the spirit of collaboration and with a focus on community, the board is hoping to use public input as a central part of their search process. Parents and community members are encouraged to participate and can do so in two ways: Starting June 1, an online survey will be made available on the district’s website. Alternatively, people can meet in person with members of the Boards Association.
The team will hold four hour-long meetings to provide insights into the search process and collect input on what characteristics, experiences and attributes the next superintendent of Georgetown County School District should have.
Those meetings are scheduled for June 11 at Andrews and Georgetown High Schools and June 12 at Carvers Bay Early College and Career High School and Waccamaw High School. Meetings will be held in each school’s auditorium and will start at 6 p.m.
The association will compile all information they gather from the surveys and meetings and report the outcome to the board of trustees.
Anyone who wants to provide additional anonymous comments, suggestions or ask specific questions can do so by emailing the Board Association’s Superintendent Search Coordinator Judy Legrand at jlegrand@scsba.org.
