MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach man is heading to prison after admitting to drug crimes and having a stolen handgun.

Alan Hicks, 40, pleaded guilty to multiple drug charges, including first-offense distribution of fentanyl, and possession of a stolen handgun on Tuesday, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Myrtle Beach police arrested Hicks in April 2023 after searching his home and finding a large amount of illegal narcotics.

“We greatly appreciate the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit,” Leigh Waller, one of the prosecutors on the case, said. “The hard work and dedication resulted in the removal of a drug dealer from our community and got a weapon out of the hands of criminals and off the streets.”

A judge sentenced Hicks to 15 years in prison.

Hicks’ charges in a criminal sexual conduct investigation are still pending, public records show.
