MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Warm weather continues through the weekend with a few showers possible. A big warm up brings summer-like heat next week.

SUNDAY

It’s going to be another warm day with increasing humidity This will set the stage for a few showers or an isolated thunderstorm at times. Rain chances both today will only be at 40%. Any showers or storms that do develop will not last long and no widespread rain or severe weather is expected.

Temperatures will remain mild through the weekend. High temperatures will reach the upper 70s at the beaches and into the lower to middle 80s across the Pee Dee

SUMMER HEAT RETURNING

A few daily showers and storms will linger into the forecast through Monday and Tuesday before high pressure strengthens back into the area. The big weather headline next week is building heat. Starting Tuesday and lasting through Friday - temperatures will be more similar to mid to late June. Afternoon highs at the beach will reach the upper 80s to near 90 while inland areas climb as high as the lower to middle 90s.

MYRTLE BEACH CLASSIC

The inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic golf tournament begins this Thursday. We begin the opening round with temperatures in the upper 80s with mostly sunny skies. On Friday, a cold front will bring scattered showers and storms. We are keeping a close eye on the severe threat for Friday but it will bring cooler temperatures for the weekend with temperatures dropping in the mid 70s for Saturday and Sunday.
