MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The classroom looked a little greener for some Horry County students on Monday.

Horry County Schools and the Myrtle Beach Classic partnered to show students what running a PGA Tour event is like. Students were selected based on what college major they’re considering.

They spent the day at the Dunes Beach and Golf Club, learning about the preparation of the grounds, turf management, event set-up and the various job options in their potential fields.

Students also had the opportunity to explore parts of the course, including some of the first nine holes and the clubhouse, according to tournament director Darren Nelson.

The Myrtle Beach Classic, the Grand Strand’s first-ever PGA Tour event, will take place from May 9-12.
