Celebration for National Champs South Carolina women’s basketball
COLUMBIA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The University of South Carolina announced the welcome home celebration for their women’s basketball NCAA National Championship team.
The Gamecocks beat the Iowa Hawkeyes 87-75 for their third-ever national championship on Sunday.
The basketball team landed in Columbia around 1:15 p.m.
The welcome home celebration will take place Monday at Colonial Life Arena with doors opening at 12:30 p.m., and the celebration beginning no earlier than 2 p.m., according to the university.
Fans should enter through the main entrance and sit in sections 101-104 and 115-118. A replay of the game will be shown before the team’s arrival and the team DJ will help “keep the energy high”. Selected concession stands will also be open.
Free parking will be in lots A and B, but the university warned spaces could be tight with classes in session.
The City of Columbia announced a championship parade is scheduled for Sunday, April 14 at 2 p.m.
