CAMDEN, S.C. (WIS) - Andrew T. Cathy, the CEO of Chick-fil-A, visited South Carolina Monday to surprise an employee with a $25,000 scholarship.

The award is one of 14 True Inspiration Scholarships awarded by Chick-fil-A across North America in 2024. The scholarship is given to Chick-fil-A employees who are involved in community service and pursuing higher education.

Chick-fil-A said the recipient of the award was Erin Watts, an employee at the W. Dekalb Street Chick-fil-A in Camden. Watts is the child of a single mother and is trying to become self-sufficient and take the burden of paying her tuition off her mom.

Watts has worked at Chick-fil-A for two years and is planning to use the scholarship to attend Furman University and hopefully achieve her dream of becoming a child psychologist.

The scholarship surprise was held at the Camden Chick-fil-A at 3:45 p.m. Monday.
