MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The impact of the Myrtle Beach Classic isn’t just being felt in the Grand Strand, but it’s being noticed in the greater golf world.

Tournament organizers announced that Saturday’s attendance of 15,281 at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club was the highest for a first-ever PGA Tour event.

“We are truly thrilled and humbled by Saturday’s attendance figures at the Myrtle Beach Classic. Tournament officials are reporting that 15,281 fans were in attendance and for an inaugural event, this is unprecedented. But we know that golfers, fans and families love The Beach, and this is our time to shine as The Golf Capital of The World,” said Karen Riordan, President and CEO, Visit Myrtle Beach.

The Myrtle Beach Classic will end with its final round on Sunday.
