Marlboro County man arrested in standoff allegedly shot at car in March

An attempted murder suspect in the Pee Dee is in custody after a standoff on Tuesday.

MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - An attempted murder suspect in the Pee Dee is in custody after a standoff on Tuesday.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division were “conducting an operation” on Woods Avenue in Clio. The agencies attempted to serve a warrant for the suspect, who refused to comply.

Deputies said the suspect, identified as Daquon Mccrimmon, was taken into custody after a brief standoff.

According to the sheriff’s office, Mccrimmon’s charge was linked to an incident that happened on March 13 where he allegedly opened fire at a vehicle with people inside on Highway 9 East. The person who called authorities said Mccrimmon followed them before he fired at them.

Deputies were also able to collect evidence at the scene along with video from surrounding security cameras.

In addition to attempted murder, Mccrimmon also faces counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehilce. He was booked at the Marlboro County Detention Center after his arrest.
