Pee Dee school to hold memorial for 11-year-old killed in shooting
FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - An elementary school in Florence County will be honoring one of its students who died in a shooting.
Scranton Elementary STEAM Academy, where 11-year-old Brentlee Crump went to school, will hold a memorial for Crump on Friday night.
The school said Crump’s favorite colors were red and blue, so they will release red and blue balloons at the school.
“All are welcome as we come together and remember this amazing kid,” the school stated in a Facebook post.

Documents obtained by WMBF News state Florence County deputies were called Wednesday night to Clover Hill Road in Scranton for reports of a child shot in the stomach.
Crump was already heading to the hospital when deputies arrived, but authorities spoke to a man at the home who said he was standing beside the home when he fired his shotgun into a nearby tree.
The report then states the man “had the gun in his hands near his side, when for unknown reasons the shotgun went off again and struck the victim in the stomach area.” The man ran up to Crump and tried to stop the bleeding while calling for help.
The memorial will start at 6 p.m. at the school.
