1 killed, 2 hurt in early morning shooting in Marion County

An investigation is underway into a shooting that turned deadly on Sunday morning.

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - An investigation is underway into a shooting that turned deadly on Sunday morning.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called around 5 a.m. to the area of Curry Road for a shooting.

Once they arrived at the scene, they learned three people were taken in a personal car to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Deputies located the crime scene along Evans Court which is just outside of Mullins.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office learned that at around 9 a.m., one person died from their injuries while at the hospital.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson identified the victim as 29-year-old Devante Legette of Mullins.

As for the other two victims, one was treated and released from the hospital and the other has been taken to another hospital and is expected to be OK.

At this point, no arrests have been made in the shooting.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said this is a very active and ongoing investigation.
