Georgetown man charged with trespassing after sending Andrews schools into secure status
ANDREWS, S.C. (WMBF) - Reports of a suspicious person put some Georgetown County schools on alert Friday.
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said they detained the person as they wandered onto the grounds near Andrews High School, Rosemary Middle School, and Andrews Elementary School just before 1 p.m.
The person has been identified as 30-year-old Walker Dewayne Bone. He is charged with trespassing after notice.
According to the sheriff’s office, a school resource officer was alerted Bone was seen “acting irrationally” on campus before walking toward County Line Road and into nearby Williamsburg County. He was detained just before 2 p.m. and was placed on a trespass notice for all three schools.
Authorities said all three schools were placed on a secure status, meaning the doors were locked and outside activities were held off. The schools resumed normal conditions once the all-clear was given by law enforcement just before 1:30 p.m.
The Georgetown County School District said classroom activities were not interrupted and students or staff were never in any danger.
