MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Marion residents may have to re-route their morning commute after storms Tuesday evening led to Marion police announcing road closures.

The road closures are due to buildings and trees being damaged during the storm leaving debris along multiple streets. Viewer-submitted videos show bricks from buildings and tree limbs spread across roads.

Parts of Main Street will be closed from Dozier Street to Arch Street until further notice. Witcover Street will also be closed from Main Street to the drive-thru lane at TD Bank.

Marion police said they hope to have the roads reopened sometime Wednesday but no time frame has been announced.

The National Weather Service later announced a possible tornado hit around 6 p.m. near Main Street.
