CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - A team of Chanticleers are going dancing after a successful season.

Coastal Carolina’s women’s lacrosse team won the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament over the weekend. The Chants (14-5) defeated top-seed Jacksonville 10-9 on Saturday to win the program’s first-ever conference title.

The next day, Coastal learned they would face seventh-seeded Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament.

The Coastal squad features Avery McIlwaine, who was named ASun Midfielder of the Year and Evelyn Kitchin, who won the conference’s Freshman of the Year award. Head coach Rachel Shuck Whitten was also named ASun Coach of the Year.

Charlotte Sadler, Jordan Gertz and Sydney McClure were also named first-team all-conference.

The Chants will face Notre Dame on Friday at 1 p.m. in South Bend, Indiana. The game will also be televised on ESPN+.
