‘Pretty awesome’: Monday After the Masters tees off with fans for the first time in years
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Monday After the Masters is teeing off with fans in attendance for the first time in five years.
Tournament Director Paul Graham said the annual Pro-AM golf event hosted by Grammy-award-winning band Hootie & The Blowfish sold out within a week of tickets going on sale.
Graham said they expect around 3,500 fans and players at the Dye Club at Barefoot Resort on Monday, including all four members of Hootie & The Blowfish.
Proceeds from ticket sales go towards the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of children in South Carolina, and the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation through a fully funded endowment.
“To be here and to see the same folks raise a lot of money...be a part of the community is pretty awesome,” said Hootie & The Blowfish vocalist Darius Rucker, who’s also known for his successful solo career. “The one thing I cherish the most is the friendships I’ve gotten to be a part of, having great friends that always want to support you is pretty awesome.”
The field also includes a star-studded line-up of celebrities, including former national championship-winning football coach Urban Meyer, The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore, NSYNC member Joey Fatone and The Today Show’s Craig Melvin.
