MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – A new addition to a Myrtle Beach skate park will have skateboarders doing some sick tricks.

The Matt Hughes Skate Park opened its new skate bowl on Saturday.

WMBF Sports reporter Teagan Brown was out there for the grand opening, and all the skateboarders told her they were “stoked” for the park’s newest feature.

Tara Sweatt sad she was excited to bring her 16-year-old son to the park to try out the new skate bowl.

“I love it. This is the best place I could think of for him to keep him out of trouble, to keep him doing what he loves and just to be with people who are great people. He’s met so many good friends and he’s making memories that I made when I was a kid,” Sweatt said.

The bowl replaced a metal ramp that had been at the skate park for years.

The skate bowl was built by 5th Pocket Skateparks and its made out of geofoam and concrete. The design is also safer for skateboarders but also appeals to those of all skill levels.
