MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach drivers are feeling relief for the second week in a row.

Gas prices are down 11 cents in the past week after previously dropping 6.2 cents, according to GasBuddy.

In late April, the average gas price was up to $3.25 a gallon. It has now dropped to $3.08 a gallon.

The cheapest gas in Myrtle Beach was priced on Sunday at $2.94 per gallon, and the most expensive was $3.39 per gallon.

“While pump prices haven’t exactly plummeted, we’ve seen the average price of gasoline drop in a majority of states over the last week as refineries finish maintenance and ramp up output of products like gasoline,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said.

Across South Carolina, gas prices are down 9.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.17 per gallon.

North Carolina’s gas prices are up 3.1 cents from last week for an average of $3.37 per gallon.

“...The future looks good as we get closer to Memorial Day; price drops could potentially accelerate after last week’s jobs data shows the economy continues to cool off,” De Haan said. “While gas prices stand slightly above where they were last year, I expect most Americans will see prices fall before the holiday weekend, and I’m optimistic the trend could extend into June and beyond. I’m excited to say it does appear that for now, the worst is behind us.”
