Warrants: Pair arrested after child found with ‘life-threatening injuries’ in Horry County

LONGS, S.C. (WMBF) - Two people are in custody after a child was found severely beaten in Horry County earlier this week.
Records show Ivy Jenerette and Samantha Gaymes were arrested after an incident on Wednesday.
Documents obtained by WMBF News state officer with the Horry County Police Department were called to Pint Circle in Longs, where the victim was taken to a hospital.
According to warrants, Jenerette allegedly beat the child who lived with him and Gaymes several times with a blunt object. The assault caused life-threatening injuries to the victim, documents state.
Warrants also accuse Gaymes of allowing “a pattern of physical abuse on the victim” including the alleged assault by Jenerette.
A police report states the victim was taken to a hospital, but no other information was provided.
Jenerette is charged with abuse/causing great bodily injury to a child while Gaymes is charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk/willfully abandoning a child.
Online records show both are being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center with no bond set as of Friday afternoon.
