Horry County man accused of stealing victim’s car after brandishing gun

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A Conway man is behind bars after being accused of brandishing a gun and stealing a car.

Jonathan Washington, 37, is facing multiple charges, including armed robbery, possession of firearms and ammunition and first-degree domestic violence.

Horry County police were called around 12:20 a.m. on Saturday to Wanda Lane for a car theft.

Washington allegedly showed a silver handgun gun and stole the victim’s car, a 2014 Volkswagen Passat, and her wallet.

Washington later came back with the stolen car and police arrested him, according to an incident report.

Investigators found a silver handgun in the trunk of the car, arrest warrants state.

Bail has not been set for most of Washington’s charges.

Washington was convicted of first-degree domestic violence in 2021.
