MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The Swingin’ Medallions played Thursday night at the Dunes Club, drumming up some major energy following the conclusion of the Myrtle Beach Classic’s first round.

The second-generation band of South Carolina natives brought out both matching pants and choreography, putting on a serious show for those headed out of the tournament’s first day.

This was a stop on a tour for the nine-piece group, which performed with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

They even made it to number 17 on the Billboard charts in 1996 with their song ‘Double Shot of My Baby’s Love.’

Fans say this was an exciting moment for them, whether they grew up with the band or were just seeing them for the first time.

“Growing up in Conway, the Swingin’ Medallions have always been a staple, and one of those clubs, groups that you always wanted to hear,” said Jeffery Briscoe.

“We’ve never seen them before, but we’ve heard about it. We know who they are, so we’re looking forward to it,” said Karen and Bob Lane.

Even members of the youngest generation tell WMBF News having a concert makes the classic that much more fun

“I think that it’s really cool, because, like, if you go to like any other tournament in 2022 or 2020, there’s no concert, but I feel like it’s a new start for 2024,” said Hastings G.

If you missed the concert Thursday, you still have another chance on Saturday, when Thompson Square performs at 6 p.m.
