21-year-old Florence man killed in Dillon County crash

DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - The Dillon County coroner has identified the man killed in a crash late last week.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened May 2 around 12:58 p.m. on Highway 301 near Canal Road. The driver of a 2019 Ford Transit Van was heading southbound on the highway when they crossed the center line and collided with a log truck heading northbound.
Coroner Donnie Grimsley said 21-year-old John Robert Costello, of Florence, was the driver of the van and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the log truck was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
