Bellamy’s sentencing will be followed by a three-year term of court-ordered supervision.

The Latta Police Department stopped Bellamy as he was driving on Jan. 15, 2022.

Officers saw a trash bag between Bellamy’s feet that had 25 grams of marijuana inside.

After looking around the rest of the car, investigators said they found a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine and two additional magazines and pills that contained methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Federal gun charges against Bellamy were ultimately dismissed, according to court records.

Bellamy was also charged in a February 2023 shooting involving a state trooper in Dillon County.

Since Bellamy got 15 years in prison on the drug charge, the state will not continue pursuing the shooting case, according to Assistant Fourth Circuit Solicitor Shipp Daniel.

In a news release, the DOJ stated the case was a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, “a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.”
