Doctor and his 2 adult children die in plane crash while traveling to Kentucky
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV/WAFB/Gray News) — Three people are dead after a small plane crashed on Wednesday afternoon in Tennessee.
Williamson County authorities said the plane had left Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was headed to Louisville, Kentucky, before it crashed about 30 miles outside of Nashville.
According to federal investigators, it could take several weeks before they have a preliminary cause of the crash that killed a Louisiana doctor and two of his children.
The victims have been identified as Baton Rouge plastic surgeon Dr. Lucuis “Tre” Doucet and two of his three adult children, Giselle and Jean Luc.
Giselle Doucet was studying veterinary medicine at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Jean Luc Doucet was an engineering student at LSU. Both were set to graduate this weekend.
Lucuis Doucet was flying the plane, which he owned when it crashed at about 12:05 p.m. in Franklin.
Investigators said the plane, a single-engine Beechcraft V35, appeared to have broken apart in the air, leaving behind a nearly a half-mile-long trail of debris.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
