Police release new details in Dillon shooting; bond denied for suspect
DILLON, S.C. (WMBF) – Dillon police are providing more information on a shooting that left one person hurt.
Officers were called around 2:51 p.m. on April 19 to the West Main Street Car Wash for someone shot.
When they arrived, the investigators found a male who had been shot in the chest. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities learned the shooting happened at a home on North 9th Avenue and went and processed the scene.
The next day, officers spoke with the victim, who identified the suspect, leading to the arrest of Vernie Blount, according to the police department.
Blount, 49, was taken into custody on April 22 and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
A magistrate judge denied bond for Blount on those charges.
Police have not said what led up to the shooting.
